Naum Gabo

Constructivist sculptor and pioneer in Kinetic Art 1890-1977 trained as a doctor then as a natural scientist and finally as a engineer,while in Munich he discovered abstract art.   His early constructions were made of cardboard or wood then he later experimented with Kinetic Sculpture  “making inages to communicate my feelings to the world”. 

The essence of Gabos work, was the exporation of space, which he elieved could be done,without having to depict mass, he other concern was art needed to exist in 4 dimensions, including time. Gabo used time and space as construction elements and in the solid matter unfolds and becomes surreal and other worldly.  His sculptures initiate a connection between tangible and untangible, between what is simplistic and the unlimited possibilities of of the intuitive imagination.  He was innotive in his works, using a wide variety of materials includin plastics fishing line, bronze, sheets of perspex and sometimes used motors to move them.
